The opening of Awasi Iguazu has set a new bar for luxury standards while also changing the visitor paradigm for Iguazu Falls and the region surrounding it. Travelers going to Iguazu Falls, and the travel industry that caters to it, had grown accustomed to the quick one night stay to see the falls as quickly as possible, and then depart. But Awasi decided it was a destination worthy of multiple nights and that there was much more to see "beyond the falls." Guests stay in one of 14 expansive villas on their private reserve just downstream of the falls on the Argentine side.
As at each of Awasi’s properties, each villa is allocated a private guide and vehicle, allowing guests to make multiple visits to the falls during their stay to avoid peak visitation times and to explore the vast natural riches that the surrounding Mata Atlantica (Atlantic Rainforest) has to offer. There is no equal to luxury lodging and personalized service at Iguazu Falls than what Awasi provides.

You can fly into either Puerto Iguazu, Argentina (IGR) which is a direct two hour flight from Buenos Aires or you can also arrive to the Brazilian side at Foz do Iguacu (IGU) via direct flights from most major Brazilian cities. Private transfers are provided in/out to both airports.
One of the most unique ways to combine Iguazu Falls with another destination is to take advantage of the daily direct flight between Lima, Peru and Foz do Iguacu, Brazil with LATAM airlines. You can also fly direct in Argentina to Mendoza from Iguazu airport. Some travelers drive overland in Argentina to Posadas and combine with an exploration of the Esteros de Ibarra wetlands.

WHEN TO VISIT
Iguazu Falls is a year-round destination. Thanks to its location in the Atlantic Rainforest, its climate is subtropical. The "coldest” months are July and August where the daytime temps are in the mid 70s and at night it can down to the mid 50s, whereas the hottest months are December and January where daytime temps are in the 90s and nighttime lows in the mid 70s. The area receives consistent rainfall in the form of thunderstorms which peak in April and May, but also correspond to the highest water levels. There really is no bad time to visit Iguazu Falls, as the water level stays fairly consistent throughout the year and the river mostly rises and falls quickly after storms. Droughts and floods come and go about every 10 years which is the only variable which may affect a visitors experience of the falls. Below is a chart of average temperatures and rainfall.
FOR FAMILIES
Children age 10 and over are welcome at Awasi, and the convenience of having a private guide makes it easy to customize excursions for families. Apart from the falls, young teens will love swimming at the base of Yasi falls on the "Alto Parana" excursion, visiting the native Guarani village, and visiting the local wildlife rescue center.
The two-bedroom villa is ideal for families but does tend to book out far in advance during school holidays since there exists only one.
Children 10 to 17-years-old pay 50% of the adult rate.
RECOMMENDED LENGTH OF STAY
The minimum stay is two nights. This shorter stay means that guests only have one full day in which to see the falls and will have limited time to do other excursions provided by Awasi. With a three-night stay, it's much easier to plan visits to the falls on different days and at different times as well as enjoy a couple of excursions away from the falls, but they will not be able to do any of the spectacular full-day excursions. Four nights is the recommended time for those that want to see both the Argentine and Brazilian side of the falls, plus dive deeper into the excursions Awasi provides far form the crowds of the park.
UNIQUE SELLING POINTS
Awasi Iguazu is located just 30 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes to the visitor center on the Argentine side of the park and 40 minutes to the Brazilian side (pending border formalities).
Awasi Iguazu is the most luxurious hotel at Iguazu Falls—full stop.
The privately-guided excursions take guests beyond the falls to see the incredible variety of flora and fauna found in the region. Guests can tour both the Argentine side of the falls and the Brazilian side during their stay (assuming they have a visa for Brazil).
In 2024, Awasi Iguazu hosted 13 international artists to take part in their new Artist Immersion Program. During their stay, the artists created some form of art that reflected their experience and served as a creative installation that guests could learn about and enjoy. Thanks to its success, Awasi will be continuing the program. Visiting art connoisseurs will also enjoy a new Pompidou Museum (the first in Latin America) opening in the area in 2026.
Combine all three of Awasi’s properties–Awasi Iguazu, Awasi Patagonia, and Awasi Atacama–over a 10-night trip to get a discount starting at $1,400, plus three complimentary nights in connection cities (Buenos Aires, Santiago, or Punta Arenas). Find all current specials here.
BEST COMBINED WITH
Iguazu Falls is best combined with a trip around Argentina, or can also be visited as a stand alone destination. Iguazu Falls is a popular crossover point for visitors doing Brazil and Argentina in the same trip.
Thanks to the direct daily flight from Lima, Peru, Iguazu Falls can also be easily combined with Peru and Machu Picchu for the ultimate bucket list trip.
