On a private reserve adjacent to the soaring granite and thundering glaciers of Torres del Paine, Awasi Patagonia has the distinction of being the world’s southernmost Relais & Châteaux property as well as the only Torres del Paine lodge that offers 100% custom guest experience. Luxury travelers have long been frustrated by inflexible transfer schedules and the group nature of excursions offered by existing lodges in Torres del Paine National Park. At Awasi Patagonia, guests are each assigned their own 4×4 vehicle and private guide, allowing them to explore Torres del Paine in private—doing what they want, at their own pace, and on their own timetable. Protected from the famously strong Patagonian winds by the surrounding lenga forest, the 12 luxury villas sit atop stilts to reduce their environmental impact. All boast private hot tubs, wood-burning stoves, and stunning views. Guests savor the cuisine of Executive Chef Federico Ziegler, who has a Michelin-starred resume spanning Europe and South America, and is known for his ability to seamlessly blend local ingredients into gastronomy of international standards.
To explore Chile from end to end, combine Awasi Patagonia with Awasi Atacama—the sister property in Northern Chile that is also part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association.

Awasi Patagonia is accessed either by road from the Chile/Argentine border crossing from El Calafate (45 minutes from the border to the lodge) or from the airports of Punta Arenas (five hours away) or Puerto Natales, Chile (two hours away). All-inclusive private services begin with pick up at the Argentina/Chile border crossing at Cerro Castillo or from Puerto Natales, Chile. Additional private land transfer services can be arranged at nominal costs directly from Punta Arenas or El Calafate—allowing for ultimate flexibility and privacy.
Unique Arrival & Departure Options:
WHEN TO VISIT
Patagonia is notorious for strong wind and fickle weather. Even during the height of summer it is possible to experience all four seasons in one day, from sunshine to snow storms! Therefore, given the unpredictability of the region, travel is encouraged throughout the entire open season, from September (the beginning of spring in Patagonia) through April, when the lenga trees turn ablaze with the arrival of fall. High season rates and a four-night minimum stay applies from mid-December through mid-January, which is also when accommodations are in the highest demand for the North American market. Encourage guests to plan a year in advance if traveling during this busy holiday time. Temperatures can vary drastically, from below freezing to 75 °F (24 °C) and sunny at any time of year.
FOR FAMILIES
Due to the length of time and logistics required to reach Torres del Paine, the destination better suited to older children (10 and up) or at least those that can tolerate considerable time in the car and on airplanes. That being said, Torres del Paine is a popular destination for families over the traditional Christmas and New Year school breaks. Awasi offers many unique excursions by boat, mountain bike, 4x4 vehicle and on horseback that provide excellent variety beyond the iconic day hikes and private guides ensure that excursions are tailored to interests and abilities. A two-bedroom Master Villa offers several different bed configurations ideal for families.
Children between 10 and 17 years of age pay 50% of the regular rate.
Minimum age required is 10 years old.
RECOMMENDED LENGTH OF STAY
Patagonia is not a destination to rush. The minimum stay is three nights. We suggest four or five nights to allow guests at least three full days of guided excursions (particularly those keen on the iconic hikes to the base of Los Torres and through the French Valley) and account for two days of travel to and from Awasi Patagonia, as well as the potential for a half-day activity on the arrival and departure days.
UNIQUE SELLING POINTS
Only at Awasi Patagonia do travelers to Torres del Paine have the freedom to choose from over 24 half-day and 13 full-day excursions during their stay. These range from 4×4 drives, hikes, horseback rides, boat trips, easy strolls, photographic safaris, wildlife-seeking excursions and bird watching. All are conducted on a private basis with individually matched guides so that each day is designed exactly according to the guest's pace and interests.
Awasi Patagonia is also pioneering in offering excursions into the mythical Baguales area, a zone rich in paleontological history and gaucho culture which complements excursions into the granite and glacier zones of the national park, as well.
The lodge is spread across a private reserve, intersected with well-maintained trails. Bird watching, wildlife viewing, biking and easy nature walks are all possible right from the villas, allowing for exploration without relying on vehicle transportation.
Privately-arranged transfers to match individual arrival and departure schedules maximize a guest's time in an around Torres del Paine instead of at the airport. No waiting for other travelers to arrive or killing time before a set, shared bus transfer.
Each of the 12 villas offers a “room with a view,” clearly framing either "Los Torres,” Lake Sarmiento, or the Patagonian Steppe.
Traveling to Patagonia feels like a journey to the end of the world, but the creative cuisine prepared under the guidance of Executive Chef Federico Ziegler rivals that of the top restaurants in major cities around the globe.
Combine all three of Awasi’s properties–Awasi Iguazu, Awasi Patagonia, and Awasi Atacama–over a 10-night trip to get a discount starting at $1,400, plus three complimentary nights in connection cities (Buenos Aires, Santiago, or Punta Arenas). Find all current specials here.
BEST COMBINED WITH
A journey to Awasi Patagonia and Torres del Paine is often the main impetus for a trip to Chile, but combines well with an exploration of Chile from end to end, especially when paired with Awasi Atacama to the far north in Chile's Atacama Desert. From Awasi Patagonia, it is also easy to travel overland across the border into Argentina to further explore the massive glaciers and world-class trekking outside of El Calafate and El Chalten. Travelers continuing on to Argentina can easily return home via Buenos Aires.
